Overview

What it actually is.

Pediatric visits at Minty Smiles are paced for children, not adults. We use child-friendly language, show them every tool before we use it, and never rush a frightened patient out of the chair.

Our priority is to build a positive relationship with the dentist early, so checkups feel routine — not scary. Parents are welcome in the operatory for every visit.

Every child sees every instrument before we use it. The first visit sets habits for a lifetime.

What to Expect

How the visit goes.

Every patient gets the same unhurried, step-by-step process. No surprises, no fine print — you know what's happening before it happens.

01 Step 01

Tell-show-do

We explain each step in age-appropriate language and let your child see and touch the instruments first.

02 Step 02

Gentle cleaning

A child-sized polish removes plaque and a fluoride treatment strengthens enamel against cavities.

03 Step 03

Exam & X-rays

We check each tooth and take small X-rays only when clinically needed — usually starting around age 5.

04 Step 04

Home-care coaching

We teach brushing and flossing technique to both child and parent before you leave.

Why It Matters

What you get out of it.

The benefits aren't theoretical. Here's what changes for you in the weeks and months after treatment.

01

Strong start

Early visits set the dental habits that carry your child through adulthood with fewer cavities and less anxiety.

02

Cavity prevention

Fluoride treatments and dental sealants on back molars can prevent a high percentage of childhood cavities.

03

Catch alignment early

We spot bite issues during the years when intervention is simplest and most effective.

04

Family scheduling

Book back-to-back appointments for the whole family — kids, parents, and teens, all in one visit.

Insurance & Pricing

Pediatric visits, fully covered.

Routine pediatric cleanings and exams are covered at 100% by most dental plans. The Child Membership Plan ($175/year, up to age 16) covers all preventative care plus 25% off other treatments.

Questions

The things everyone asks.

When should my child first see a dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends the first visit by age 1, or within six months of the first tooth coming in — whichever is sooner.
What if my child is anxious?
We never force a frightened child to continue. We use distraction, patience, and short visits to slowly build trust — many of our most anxious patients now look forward to coming in.
Do you offer sealants?
Yes. Dental sealants are a quick, painless coating applied to the chewing surface of back molars to prevent decay — typically placed around ages 6 and 12.
